TAHIRIDS


The first of these coins has the Governor's name, Al-Shukr b. Ibrahim, on the obverse side (in two lines, above and below the kalima) and the appellation "the Ambidextrous" on the reverse (in the same position). The actual name of the ruler, Tahir, was omitted, but he was widely known by this characteristic.
