Digital Answering Machine Menu NOTE!!! AC/ADAPTOR This Model use - 9/V NEGATIVE CENTER, 300 MILIAMPER WHEN: There is no polarity, it means that the ADAPTOR is AC. When polarity is specified POSITIVE or NEGATIVE it means DC. AC/ADAPTOR Cannot Be Substituted with DC/ADAPTOR. For Example: If you take the ADAPTOR of Model 860 which is 1200 NEGATIVE CENTER DC, and put it on Model 890 which uses 12/V ADAPTOR AC, the VOICE PROMPT WILL NOT WORK. NOTE: After connecting the unit to an electrical outlet, PLEASE WATCH THE 60 SECOND COUNTDOWN display when it reaches 0. The answering machine is ready for you to record your outgoing message after it reaches 0. NOTE: Even though the box states "Two-way recording", this unit DOES NOT have two-way recording. If you Press and hold the MEMO button during a conversation, then the customer will just be recording a memo. How do I record an outgoing message? NOTE: Your machine is provided with a pre-recorded outgoing message which advises the caller to leave a message after the tone. The maximum length of an outgoing message is 30 seconds. Press and hold the OGM button .1094 After the beep, release the button and begin your message. When you have finished, Press and release the OGM button . You will hear a beep. Your message will play back followed by a beep tone. How do I set the time and day? Press and release the Clock button . You will hear the currently set time and day. To reset the hour, Press and hold the Clock button . You will hear a beep tone and then consecutive hours will be shown on the display. (Both 1 AM and 1 PM will be announced to tell the difference on a 12 hour clock.) Release the button when the correct hour is shown. A beep tone will sound. To reset the minute, you should now Press and hold the Clock button . Consecutive minutes will be shown progressively in the display. Release the button when the correct minute has been shown. A beep tone will sound. To reset the day, Press and hold the Clock button . Release it after the correct day has been announced. The new setting will then be announced. To check the day and time setting, Press and release the Clock button again. The total recording time for this model is 6 minutes. The unit can take up to a total of 99 messages (memos and ICMs). OGM - 30 seconds maximum. ICM - One minute maximum. MEMO - Unlimited until the memory if full. When all the available memory is full, you will not be able to change your OGM. Delete recorded ICMs in order to re-record an OGM. How do I use the call screening / intercept? When your answering machine is ON and an incoming call is received, you can listen to the caller's message and decide whether or not to take the call. If you wish to interrupt recording and speak to the caller, lift the HANDSET of any extension telephone on the same line and then begin talking to the caller. The answering system will stop recording and then reset itself for the next call. Anything the caller said before you intercepted the call will be recorded as an ICM. The memo function allows the user at the answering system location to leave a message for the next user. Press and hold the MEMO button . When you hear a beep, release the button .While you are recording, the display will indicate the current number of messages received (including the current memo.) When you have finished speaking, pause briefly, then Press and release either the MEMO or STOP button to stop the recording. You will hear another beep. The memo will be treated as another ICM and included in the count of messages in the display. It will be played in sequential order with the ICMs. If you have received any messages, the display will show the total number of current ICMs and memos. Press and release the PLAY button . Your answering system will announce "You have X messages." Your system will announce the number of each message and they will then be played back to you individually. The display will show the number of each ICM as it is played. NOTE: If you have more than 59 messages, the system will announce "You have messages." At the end of each message, the time and day of the message will be announced. After the last ICM, your system will announce "End of Message." To STOP during message playback, Press the STOP button while an ICM or memo is playing. All messages will be saved whether they have been played or not. To SKIP a message and go to the beginning of the next message, Press and release the SKIP button . The system will stop playing automatically and skip forward to the beginning of the next message. The unit will skip forward one message each time you Press the SKIP button . To REVIEW a message, Press and release the REVIEW button . The system will stop playing and automatically return to the start of the current message. Press and hold the REVIEW button to return to the beginning of previous messages. If you receive a call during message playback, Press and release the STOP button . The unit will reset and accept the call. The caller will hear the OGM. All ICMs or memos will be saved. If you wish to speak to the caller, lift the HANDSET of an extension phone and begin speaking. If you wish to save all ICMs or memos stored in memory, simply allow all messages to play and wait for the 5 second time limit to expire. All messages or memos will be saved and the message count will appear in the display. While the memo or ICM you wish to delete is playing, Press and release the DELETE button . A beep tone will sound and your unit will skip to the next message. The message will be deleted if you Press DELETE during message replay or during the time/day announcement. To delete ALL messages, wait until the last message has played. Press the DELETE button within 5 seconds (counted down in the display). If you do not Press DELETE within 5 seconds, the messages you have played will be saved. If you have deleted messages, after playback your system will announce "Messages erased, please wait" and the display will flash showing "EA". Once the counting process has been completed, you will hear a beep tone and then the display will indicate the current number of ICMs and memos. How do I set the personal security code? Your factory preset code is 8 8 8. The answering system allows you to program a 3-digit PIN code into the system's memory. This will prevent any unauthorized remote access to your messages. PROGRAMMING SECURITY CODE: With the unit set ON, Press and hold the CODE button until you hear a beep tone. (If you hold down the CODE button too long, the display will show "OF" and your PIN code will return to its former setting.) Within 10 seconds, Press and hold the Clock button until the first digit of your desired PIN code is displayed. Release the Clock button when you see the correct number. Press and release the CODE button . Press and hold the Clock button again until the second digit of your desired PIN code is displayed. Release the Clock button when you see the correct number. Press and release the CODE button . Press and hold the Clock button again until the third digit of your PIN code is displayed. Release the Clock button when you see the correct number. Press and release the CODE button . A beep tone will sound to confirm the new number is in memory. Your new code will be shown on the display one digit at a time and then a beep tone will sound. If PIN code setting is unsuccessful, the PIN code will return to the former setting without change. How do I use the remote operations? BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION: When entering two-digit codes like "64", pause briefly between digits. After entering your PIN code, your unit will sound a beep tone and then announce "Press 1 to play messages. Press 6 for menu." A double chime will sound. After a brief pause, the MAIN MENU will be played back to you. You can access MAIN MENU functions by entering the appropriate remote command code either before or during the MAIN MENU or within the MAIN MENU 8 second remote command code entry period. This period follows the MAIN MENU playback or the double chime that sounds once a MAIN MENU function has been completed. If no command is entered during this period, the system will sound a beep tone and then disconnect the call. NOTE: When entering your pin code or remote command codes, Press and hold the button s firmly for 1 second leaving a gap in between digits for 2 or 3 digit codes. When the system answers, wait through your OGM and the following beep tone and then enter your PIN code. You will hear a beep tone to confirm that you have entered the correct security code. The unit will then announce "Press 1 to play message. Press 6 for menu" and then sound a double chime. You can either access the MAIN MENU or simply enter another command code for other functions. You have 8 seconds to enter a command code before the unit releases the line. MAIN MENU: (1) Plays messages. You will hear the PLAYBACK MENU after the first message. (2) Plays announcement. (3) Stops function. If 3 is entered during the 8 second remote command code entry period, the system will sound a beep and then hang up. (4) To record a new announcement. Press 4 again to stop. NOTE: You can erase your new OGM by Pressing 0 when it is played back to you. You will hear "Announcement erase" followed by a double chime and the OGM will revert to the factory recording. The system will return to the 8 second remote command code entry period. (5) To record message. Press 5 again to stop. (6) For menu. The remote MAIN MENU will play back for you. (7) To turn ON/OFF. (8) Change security code. REMOTE PLAYBACK MENU: (6) For menu. The PLAYBACK MENU will then be played back to you. (This command can only be entered in between messages.) (7) To play previous message. (8) To repeat message. (9) To skip message. (0) To erase message. To erase all your messages, wait until they have all been played back to you, the system announces "End of Messages" and then Press 0. NOTE: You can Press 3 to end message playback and then access another MAIN MENU function. 1.) Disconnect the adaptor from the back of the unit but not from the wall. 2.) Take out the 9v battery from the bottom of the unit. 3.) Wait 15 seconds. 4.) Replace the battery. 5.) Reconnect the adaptor. 6.) Record your OGM again. |
