Complete Works. Moscow, 1955-1969
18 Volumes (issued originally in 23 bindings). Russian text.
In order to facilitate the use of this modern edition we have printed the original edition with our own translations into English and transliterations in the roman alphabet. These are found filmed alongside or following the original Russian Cyrillic text as well as in our printed Index which is part of the binder that houses this edition. The translations and transliterations are critically-placed primarily to help the user locate the music he seeks. Thus, the non-specialist will have no difficulty in identifying titles of compositions, editorial or bibliographical information and other facts. Titles of compositions are either translated into English or into the language in which the compositions are usually referred.
Transliterations and translations of this type are somewhat new to the field of music reprinting and should aid greatly in making this new edition of the works of Glinka more familiar and usable.
This microfiche reprint edition was under the editorship of the late Dr. Boris Schwarz, Professor of Music, Queens College of the City University of New York, noted scholar-musician and specialist on Russian music.
