The first Berlioz Collected Edition has long been out of print and second-hand sets are scarce and costly.
In the light of Berlioz's importance, there is a need for access to his works (of all the large works of Berlioz, only Benvenuto Cellini, The Trojans and the unfinished operas, Les Franc Juges and La Nonne Sanglante, are omitted from the M alherbe-Weingartner edition).
The re-issue of the Leipzig edition - one particularly distinguished for its excellent engraving - should be a welcome addition to any music library.
