MENDEL, HERMANN and AUGUST REISSMANN

Musikalisches Conversations-Lexikon

12 volumes. Reprint of the Berlin edition of 1870-1883.

An encyclopedia of collected musical knowledge. Mendel (1834-1876), a German music lexicographer (and pupil of Mendelssohn and Moscheles), wrote this lexicon up to the letter "M" with Reissmann (1825-1903) finishing it from that point (vols. 7 to 11, plus the supplement volume). However, a number of prominent writers made contributions. Among them, F. M. Böhme, Dörffel, David, Hartmann, Naumann, Rust, et al. An index is included at the end of each volume
